Free curly birch material for competitors
To encourage participation in the competition, the Finnish Curly Birch Society has reserved a supply of dried small-dimension brown-figured curly birch material for competitors.
Each competitor can receive approximately 40 kg of curly birch material free of charge, allocated in the order in which reservations are received, while supplies last.
Available Material
The dried small-dimension curly birch logs have a maximum diameter of 150 mm (approx. 6″) and are approximately 1,000–2,000 mm long. The logs have been pre-packed in bundles of approximately 30–40 kg.
The moisture content of the logs is approximately 10–12%. To prevent the material from absorbing moisture and to furher drying, it is recommended that the logs be stored in an indoor, dry space.
Some of the available small-dimention curly birch material is also live-sawn into boards approximately 1″ or 2″ thick. Board lengths range from approximately 800 to 2,000 mm. The boards have been vacuum-dried to a moisture content suitable for woodworking and furniture making.
Most of the curly birch material comes from the Hartola Kuningatar clone.
How to Reserve Material
To reserve material, send an email to kilpailu (at) visaseura.fi.

- your full name
- your contact details
- any preference regarding the material, if applicable (for example, logs only)
After your reservation has been received, you will be sent further information by email regarding collecting arrangements, including the collection location and available dates. If applicable, information about shipping at the recipient’s expense will also be provided.
